I came here in 2003, this was my first trip abroad ever in my life, and I didn't travel with my own family - unfortunately as I would of loved to of spent the time with my own family making memories etc but life just didn't allow for this at the time due to dad being really poorly, so luckily I got the opportunity to travel with one of my best friends and her family at the time.
I travelled here only a few years after 9/11 which always played a huge part on my mine even being 11/12 at the time I still remember the entire event take place and this scared me a little bit about flying, however I soon realise when in the air that flying wasn't as bad as I thought it was.
The flight over to Orlando was very smooth which I was thankful for, I travelled out here In April 2003 from LGW and the flight took approx 10 hours, which felt like forever, thank god for the entertainment system onboard virgin Atlantic, else I would of been screwed. I literally didn't sleep on bits don't know if it was because of the flight, or whether it was nerves of travelling for the first time ever.
The weather on landing was impeccable, and other than a few rainy days stayed sunny throughout the entire trip - even during the rainy days they still stayed seriously warm and humid. Couldn't go wrong with choosing a more perfect destination for a first ever trip.
It was such a long time ago now I cannot remember where I stayed precisely, but I did stay in kissamee, then travelled via car to all the places we went to visit. As a child visiting the area for the first time we visited a lot of the usual theme parks, but we did not visit disney world much to my disgust as a Disney baby because they visited it the year previous year so I went too -
Universal Studios
Island of Adventure
Bush Gardens
Gatorland
Sea World
Wet N Wild
Old Town
I highly recommend US, IoA, BG & WnW for sure, they had some of the most incredible rides I have ever been on. However, Sea world as I've grown older and learnt more about I wouldn't recommend going too, thats pure out of opinion as I don't agree with how they are but I wont go into that.
I visited lots of different restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner and always loved the portion sizes, no matter what I always managed to find something I would eat which didn't include eating meat as at the time I was primarily veggie.
I travelled down to Tampa and Miami a couple of times to visit the local area and enjoy time at the beaches, I enen stopped off at Ron Jon Surf Shop to pick up a body board which I happened to pay extra for on the way home just so I could bring the thing home with me haha
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from this trip as it was before the digital age! haha But I had the time of my life and I would return there on my own or as a family sometime for sure.
